A Poem to Hope for Spring, Marcie Sims

Still waiting for spring…

Distraction

Spring in the Northwest

                                creeps in slowly.

Sun stalks the waiting buds,

bursting eagerly at the first touch.

Fingers of light and heat trigger

bursts of color, tart yellows, juicy purples.

The strawberry-sweet scent of

persimmon-pink roses and sugar-sweet

honeysuckle perfume the air.

Then, inevitably, thoughts of you

slip back into my head,

delicious ache of muscle and gut,

the hairs on my skin

like Lazarus, rising.

  1. Oh Marcie, this photo, those words bring the yearning of better, happier times from deep inside of me. The eyes glide down these lovely words and then again back to this stunning photo, which gives one serenity, love and peace. Dearest Marcie, thank you for sharing. Ilona
