My Birthday Dinner in Paris

It was the year 1992, my retirement and my 65th birthday. Even though my retirement date was June 1st, I was allowed a few days before to leave so we could be in Paris on June 2nd. For the last twenty five years my wish was to have lunch or dinner in Paris with my sweet Heart for my 65th birthday.
We landed in Frankfurt/Germany and Hal, my husband, rented a sporty BMW. We first drove to Darmstadt to visit my sister and her husband and started the next day on our trip to Fontainebleau for a few days and then a week in Paris. We took the toll auto- route
I would like to say how much I enjoyed this lovely story of Ilona’s birthday dinner in Paris with Hal all those years ago (and again how hungry her stories often make me!) But most importantly, I want to wish Ilona a happy birthday–her birthday is this week, along with two more women I love and admire, Sharon and Bev. So happy birthday to all three of these beautiful, June-birthday women.
Ilona had Bev and Sharon in mind also when she chose this story for this week–here’s a note she included when she sent me the story on Friday: “The little story today is also for the June birthday ladies…Sweet Sharon
Happy birthday dear Ilona!! Your stories always fascinate me and this one surely did so. Thank you for sharing this precious memory.
And happy birthday dear Bev and Sharon!
Another glorious story. How I wish we could scoop Ilona up and whisk her off to Paris for a re-enactment of this beautiful birthday celebration. So many years of Ilona in our lives. We are blessed beyond measure. June love and celebrations — to Bev too. XOX Sharon and Fumitaka
