The picture of Friedl, Georg and the boys is such a treasure, looking so happy and playful. And what fun Ilona and Hal must have had, planning the sightseeing, dining, performances, the Boeing plant, the trip to the Oregon coast and Mount St. Helens. Something for everyone, even the young men, and it is no surprise that everyone had such a wonderful time. Thank you Ilona and Marcie, for sharing this heartwarming story.
This story brings back so many memories. I worked at the Olympic Hotel (now the Four Seasons) during the World’s Fair and had the opportunity to meet so many interesting visitors to the city during that time, including Bob Hope! I was also pregnant with my second child and anticipating some time away from the working life. It was a magical time in Seattle, a time so many of remember with pride and hope. Maybe it was a simpler time…..
Thanks for remembering this special time with your dear family, Ilona.
